Everything You Need to Know About Conflicting Crystals

Crystals are a powerful tool to help you manifest your desires, connect with the universe, and amplify the positive energies around you. While there are plenty of powerful crystals that work great together, there are also some conflicting crystals that can have the opposite effect.

When you first hear about conflicting crystals, you might think these pairing can attract chaos and negative energy into your life. Fortunately, that’s not the case.

Read on to learn more about what happens when conflicting crystals pair together. Then discover the most common conflicting crystal combinations so you don’t accidentally use them together.

What Are Conflicting Crystals?

Conflicting crystals are when two or more crystals come together and cancel out each other’s benefits. Fortunately, this means that wearing incompatible crystals or having them close together in your home won’t harm you or attract negative energies and experiences that you don’t want.

However, it does mean that these crystals won’t work together to their fullest potentials and provide the desired impact you’re looking for.

The Most Common Conflicting Crystal Combinations

It’s very common for people to wear different crystals at one time, or to decorate their homes and personal spaces with different types of stones. Since you always want to make sure your crystals are working, you want to avoid combining ones that conflict.

However, there isn’t a complete list of conflicting crystals because there’s an almost endless variety of options that don’t work well together. Sometimes, it also depends on the goals you’re trying to achieve with your crystals.

Below, we’ll take a look at the most common conflicting crystal combinations. Then we’ll discuss what you should do if you have some of these incompatible crystals.

1. Clear Quartz and Citrine

Clear Quartz Cluster - 369-MGC-58

Clear quartz is known as an amplifier, meaning it increases the power of any crystals paired with it. Oftentimes, this can be a good thing.

For example, if you’ve been feeling restless and you really want to get a good night’s sleep, you can pair clear quartz with amethyst to help relax your mind and body and drift into a peaceful sleep.

On the other hand, if you pair clear quartz with the wrong stone, such as citrine, you can amplify the wrong feelings.

Citrine is a great crystal for motivation and energy. However, if you’re already feeling revved up or anxious about something, combining clear quartz and citrine can amplify the wrong feelings.

2. Tiger’s Eye and Smoky Quartz

Tiger’s eye is a fantastic crystal for boosting confidence. It gives you a great lift of energy that helps you live boldly — just like a tiger in the wild.

As an empath, smoky quartz is one of my favorite crystals because it’s known for its grounding and shielding energies. Of course, you can immediately see why these two crystals don’t work well together.

While the tiger’s eye is working to boost confidence and energy, the smoky quartz is working to shield and protect against high energy. They effectively cancel each other out!

While wearing both of these crystals won’t bring you any harm, you also won’t feel any special benefits from them.

3. Citrine and Amazonite

Citrine and Amazonite are two other stones that basically cancel each other out. As mentioned above, citrine is good for amplifying motivation.

Amazonite is a calming crystal that’s ideal for relaxing the mind and body and preparing them for sleep. However, when you pair these two crystals together, they become incompatible because their energies are trying to achieve different results.

While the citrine is trying to raise your energy and confidence, the Amazonite is trying to calm your energy.

4. Amazonite and Tiger’s Eye

Amazonite and tiger’s eye is another prime example of two crystals with conflicting energies. Much like citrine is used to increase motivation, tiger’s eye can be used to boost energy and confidence.

As I just mentioned, some people turn to Amazonite to help them sleep. However, combining tiger’s eye and Amazonite together will have similar effects to pairing citrine and Amazonite.

The tiger’s eye will cancel out all of the calming benefits of Amazonite, and you’ll be awake all night instead of getting the restful sleep you desire.

5. Blue Lace Agate and Calcite

While I love blue lace agate and calcite separately, I don’t really like them paired together.

Blue lace agate is a great crystal for anyone suffering from stress and anxiety. It can help calm your mind and bring a sense of peace to your entire body.

Calcite is a fantastic stone for kicking your imagination and creativity into overdrive. When you use calcite, ideas will flow freely through you. It’s also amazing for sharpening your mind and giving you the energy you need to tackle those big projects.

However, as you can see, these two crystals are trying to achieve different outcomes. One wants to calm you down, while the other wants to hype you up.

What you end up with are two energies that don’t know what you want, so you’re left with nothing at all! This is why it’s best to use these two crystals separately.

What to Do if You Have Conflicting Crystals

So now you know some of the common conflicting crystal combinations. But what should you do if you realize you have some of these conflicting crystals? There are a few steps you can take to ensure you don’t experience any disrupting energies.

The first option is to keep your crystals in different locations. For example, let’s say you want to use citrine to help you stay motivated and Amazonite to help you sleep.

Then you should place the citrine in your office or on your desk, and you should keep the Amazonite under your pillow or on your bedside table. This way, each stone is in the right area to amplify your intentions, and they won’t conflict with each other.

The same is true if you prefer to wear your crystals. Simply wear your citrine when you’re trying to work so you can benefit from its motivating energies — and consider pairing it with clear quartz to really pump up your ambition!

Another option is to cleanse your crystals of their current intentions and set new, harmonious intentions to make them compatible.

Consider the above example of tiger’s eye and smoky quartz. While tiger’s eye can be used to raise your energy, you can also use it to help you focus.

If you cleanse your tiger’s eye and set your intentions for focusing, it actually ends up working well with smoky quartz and helping to protect you from external energies.

Understanding Conflicting Crystals

Using conflicting crystals won’t bring any harmful energies into your life. However, they can cancel out their intentions or just not work correctly.

If you make it clear to the universe what your intentions are, or you separate conflicting crystals, you can avoid these incompatibilities and enjoy all of the amazing benefits your crystals have to offer.
